Oh, to be young and in New Zealand! Over in Auckland this week there's a really cool conference going on, "
Short Takes on Long Poems." Among the long poems they're going to discuss: Carla Harryman and Lyn Hejinian's
The Wide Road,
John Kinsella's
Divine Comedy, and George Oppen's "Of Being Numerous," and one of the participants, Rachel Blau DuPlessis, is the author of
Drafts, a
serial poem that, after several decades, will, she reports, shortly be drawing to a (provisional) close.
